Hi my name is Alan, and I'm a qualified person-centred counsellor. I'm an accredited registrant member of both the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) and the Person-Centred Association (TPCA) and I work in line with their professional and ethical standards. At the heart of my practice is a belief in the healing power of being truly heard, accepted, and understood — without judgment or agenda. This belief led me to train in person-centred counselling, an approach that honours each person’s unique experience and inner potential.

Please be aware that I don't offer a 24/7 or crisis service. If you are in urgent need of support please contact the emergency services, statutory mental health services for your area or you may want to consider contacting
Samaritans on 116 123 or
Suicide Prevention UK on 0800 689 5652
which are 24/7 services.
Person-centred counselling, developed by Carl Rogers, is a humanistic approach to therapy that emphasises the client as the expert in their own life. The core belief is that individuals have an innate tendency toward growth and self-actualisation, and with the right environment, they can resolve their own issues. This approach is non-directive, meaning the counsellor does not lead or give advice, but instead provides a supportive and empathetic space. Clients are empowered to explore their feelings, increase self-awareness, and move toward greater independence and emotional well-being. Person-centred counselling is widely used in various settings and is known for building strong therapeutic relationships based on trust and respect.
